In the state of wanting more
In the state of wanting more,
I saw enough as too little,
Hating the same things,
I had been longing for,
A couple of years back.
In the state of wanting more,
I used other people's life,
As a measure of my success,
Using their perception
As my marking scheme,
Forgetting that I had,
A different exam paper.
In the state of wanting more,
I disturbed other's peace,
Thinking that the more I got,
The more happy I'd become.
In the state of wanting more,
I strived to change,
Things outside me,
Not aware that real happiness,
Was within me.
In the state of wanting more,
I envied others,
Sometimes giving their success,
An evil interpretation.
In the state of wanting more,
I ignored,
The basic forms of happiness,
Like breathing,
Like heartbeats,
Like smiling,
Like friends,
Like loving,
Like sharing,
Like just being Alive!
In the state of wanting more,
I was blinded by advertisements,
Not knowing they were designed,
To make us feel incomplete,
So that in the quest,
Of making ourselves better,
We make others,
Rich.
But in the state of moderation,
In the state of self love,
In the state of self control,
In the state of small beginnings,
Is where I have found real happiness,
Its all in perception,
Its all in our mind,
Its all in what you chose,
Its all in what we value,
For the sun that melts a candles,
Is the same sun,
That hardens the clay!
